Yoga has long been tradition in the Eastern world, and the practice has helped many reach a higher state of inner calm and peace.  In September of 2011, more than 800 residents and visitors in Dubai were treated to a truly one of a kind Yoga workshop.  Wakeup and Shakeup Dubai, hosted by The Art of Living Foundation, brought the emirate two days of laughter, fun, games, and meditations as well as a great sense of relaxation and the quest for inner peace.

The Art of Living Foundation is an NGO founded by famed musician Ravi Shankar.  It is the largest volunteer based NGO in the entire world, with a number of unique goals and initiatives.  Wakeup and Shakeup was attended by more than 800 people of differing nationalities, all of whom came together for music, dance, meditation, and fun under the instruction of Swami Jyothirmaya.  The event was definitely a success, and actually made its way to a number of different locations throughout Europe in addition to the workshop that was held in Dubai.  The event was intended to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Art of Living Foundation.

Wakeup and Shakeup Dubai was the biggest event that The Art of Living Foundation has ever held in the Middle East, and the event took place in Dubai’s World Trade Centre, which is their most prestigious and famed venue.  The event was designed to bring people closer to their own inner peace and to discovering the meaning of life, and attendees got the opportunity to take place in a wide range of unique and exciting events.  The future of the event and whether or not it will come back to Dubai in the future is not yet known, but for those lucky enough to have attended, the event will be one that lasts forever in their memories.
